Settling In
The settling-in process in a nursery can be an emotional time for both children and parents. It involves gradually introducing the child to the new environment, routines, and people at the nursery. Typically, the settling-in process will start with short visits accompanied by the parent or caregiver, and then gradually increase the length of time the child spends at the nursery without the parent present. The aim is to help the child feel comfortable and secure in their new surroundings and to build trust with the staff. It is important for parents to communicate openly with the nursery staff during this process to ensure that the child's individual needs and preferences are understood and accommodated. With patience and sensitivity, the settling-in process can be a positive experience for both the child and their family.
